Do you know the difference between a blackheads and whiteheads?
- A whitehead is a blocked pore with a small piece of skin covering it, a whitehead will usually be smaller than a blackhead.
- A blackhead, is an open pore with a blackened mass of skin debris covering it, despite their name, some blackheads can be yellowish in color.
Blackhead extraction should only be done on pores that extract with ease and not under extreme pressure, causing redness and pain. However; with the correct AHA use, you should not have to perform blackhead extractions at all as they can be damaging to the skin and the little muscles at the follicles (arrector pili muscles), leaving more marks and damage on the skin.
Two great products to extract blackheads with ease are PRIORI® Idebenone Facial Cleanser and PRIORI® Advanced AHA Invigorating Face & Body Scrub
This is a useful PRIORI® night time tip to help remove unwanted blackheads.
Once you have cleansed and exfoliated you should steam your face over a bowl of boiling water and towel over your head for a few minutes, followed by ice cold water splash or ice cold face flannel compress. Following this, you should apply AHA Perfection Facial Gel to your blocked pores and congested skin areas and then apply Barrier Repair Complex if moisture is required.
